Following the NFL’s latest salary cap news, how much available space do the Jacksonville Jaguars now have?
On Friday, it was reported that the league notified teams that the 2026 salary cap would be between $301.2 million and $305.7 million.
Compared to Over the Cap’s previous projected salary cap figure of $295.5 million, that’s a jump in cap space for the Jaguars and the rest of the NFL of roughly $5.5 million to almost $10 million.
Before this news broke, the Jaguars had work to do when it came to their salary cap situation. And that still remains true, however, now there will be less of it.
Under the new salary cap projection, Over the Cap has Jacksonville $13.99 million over the estimated salary cap total for 2026. Only five teams have less cap space at the moment than the Jaguars.

Contributing to the Jaguars’ current cap situation is a heavy amount of dead salary cap being carried on the 2026 books after undergoing so much roster turnover in 2025.
GM James Gladstone has the ability to create more space through contract restructures, extensions in some instances, and possible veteran cuts.
Any unused cap space from 2025 will rollover to help the Jaguars in 2026 as well.
How much the Jaguars end up spending in free agency this offseason will be dependent on how aggressive Gladstone wants to be in pushing current year’s cap charges to future seasons.
