The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of 38-year-old Amen Mathis and 60-year-old Gregory Woods in connection with Kenneth Lockhart’s murder.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has arrested two men in connection with the Christmas Eve killing of 55-year-old Kenneth Lockhart.

That night, JSO says officers responded to a shooting on St. Augustine Road, near Emerson Street. When they arrived, they found Lockhart with multiple gunshot wounds. He passed away before he could receive medical attention.

Homicide detectives began investigating, and nearby surveillance footage showed Lockhart in an argument with two men. Police say the footage shows two men shooting Lockhart before running away.

One of the men was identified as 38-year-old Amen Mathis, who was arrested early Christmas morning.

The investigation continued, and 60-year-old Gregory Woods was identified as the second suspect. The U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested Woods on Jan. 28.

Woods and Mathis are being held at the Duval County jail and are charged with 2nd-degree murder. They are each also charged with possessing guns as convicted felons.
