Five people were taken into custody overnight in connection with an attempted burglary and a short car chase in Woodland Hills, according to police.
Officers were called to a home on Campo Road sometime before 3:30 a.m. Sunday after three men attempted to enter the house. Those individuals were arrested at the scene, authorities said.
Shortly after, a second call to police was made after a suspicious vehicle was seen in the area. The driver of that vehicle tried to evade law enforcement, prompting a brief chase that resulted in multiple vehicles being struck.
Stephen Mintz, who lives in the community, recalled the chaos that woke him up.
“It was 3 o’clock in the morning, I heard all these sirens going and I’m seeing all the red lights at my house,” he said. “I got out of bed and I looked up the hill and there is a street that goes back there, and I just saw all these cars flying down there and then they made a left turn and the guys that were being chased. Wacked that poor car. I’m glad nobody was in it.”
The Los Angeles Police Department said it’s still investigating whether the attempted burglary and car chase are connected. It did not release the names of the individuals who were arrested or what charges they may face.
