To celebrate the reopening, the Philadelphia Historic District offered discounts, special giveaways, patriotic treats, photo opportunities, and other events from Thursday, Jan. 29, through Sunday, Feb. 1. The treats included custom-baked cookies for the first 250 visitors who visited the Independence Visitor Center desk and presented a ticket or ticket stub from their visit.

Beyond celebrating the reopening of Independence Hall, Philadelphia’s broader 250th anniversary commemoration plan includes weekly free public events this year that showcase firsts in city history through storytelling, art, and community celebrations.

Philadelphia will also be involved in several 2026 events tied to the city’s 250th anniversary. These events include global sports and national competitions like the FIFA World Cup, MLB All-Star Game, NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, the PGA Championship, and more.
