Overview: Helix Charter High School
Families interested in enrolling for next school year should submit applications before the March 1 deadline.
Birds are singing, flowers are blooming, and Helix Charter High School has kicked off its spring semester on a strong note. February brings a full calendar of sports, performing arts shows, and informational events for students and parents.
Application dates coming up
Families interested in enrolling for next school year should submit applications before the March 1 deadline.
Applications to enroll in the 2026-27 school year are due at the beginning of next month. If you would like to enroll a student for next school year, you must submit your application by March 1, 2026.
Helix is a charter school, so no one is automatically enrolled; you must apply before that date to ensure that your incoming student has a spot. The application and all information about enrollment can be found here.
No action is needed for currently enrolled grade Helix students in grades 9-11. Online enrollment will be completed after spring break for current students.
Dual enrollment information
Dual Enrollment Info Night is this Thursday, Feb. 5 at 6 p.m. It is intended to provide information for parents and guardians who would like to learn more about our dual enrollment program.
We’ll cover the pros and cons of dual enrollment, how to enroll, opportunities and expectations. Our College & Career Center Advisor, Gillian Morgan, will present along with Ms. Villegas, grade level principal.
This event will be held in person in ExL (room 1600) at 6 p.m. Students are welcome to attend. Registration is not required.
Mean Girls: The Musical
Join the Highland Players for our winter musical, Mean Girls, playing through Feb. 6. February shows are on 2/4 and 2/6 at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here.
E-bike safety workshop
The La Mesa Police Department and the San Diego County Bike Coalition will present an e-bike safety workshop on Thurs., Feb. 19 at 6 p.m.
E-bikes are powerful, fast, and often misunderstood. Many riders and parents don’t realize that different e-bike classes come with different laws, age limits, and safety requirements. This class breaks down what is legal, what is safe, and what every family needs to know to prevent crashes and protect young riders.
They will also cover what drivers need to know, including safe passing laws and how to share the road with e-bike riders.
Students are encouraged to attend with parents and guardians and will earn one hour of community service for attending. Registration is not required, just show up.
Hip-Hop Night
Feb. 24 through 26 at 7 p.m. Purchase tickets at helixdancers.com.
