Authorities have publicly identified four people who lost their lives over the last 11 days to San Diego County traffic crashes.
The most recent of the roadway deaths occurred shortly before 3:30 a.m. Sunday, when 22-year-old Rodrigo De Leon of Valley Center lost control of the sedan he was driving in on East El Norte Parkway in Escondido, according to the county Medical Examiner’s Office. The car veered off the street, struck a tree, crashed into a backyard and overturned, ejecting De Leon, the agency reported. He died at the scene of the wreck.
Three days earlier, a crash claimed the life of Jose Solorio, 78. Solorio was driving through his hometown of Vista late Thursday evening when his car collided with a pickup truck on West Vista Way, according to the medical examiner. Paramedics took Solorio to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, where he was pronounced dead.
On Jan. 25, a late-night collision in Lakeside fatally injured a 30-year-old motorcyclist, the county agency reported. Braxxton Aldama of El Cajon was riding along the Winter Gardens Boulevard about 10:30 p.m. when his motorcycle crashed into a car. He died before emergency personnel could take him to a hospital.
Just before 6 p.m. Jan. 22, a sedan struck Gladys Sandoval, 57, as she was walking across a roadway in Chula Vista, where she lived, according to the medical examiner. Paramedics took her from the site of the crash on Moss Street to UCSD Medical Center in San Diego, where she was pronounced dead several hours later, the county agency reported.
