SAN ANTONIO – A suspect peacefully surrendered to authorities Tuesday afternoon following a lengthy standoff on Northwest Side.
The standoff began around 11 a.m. at a building off Woodridge Bluff, near Babcock Road, after police were called out to reports of a man firing a gun from the building. The suspect, identified as Ahmad Naghi Namakforrosh, initially refused to come out.
As a precaution, residents in the nearby Woodridge neighborhood were advised to remain indoors while officers attempted to make contact.
A SWAT team, along with mental health officers, was brought in to assist with negotiations. After several hours, Namakforrosh surrendered without incident.
No injuries were reported. The investigation remains ongoing.
