PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A 67-year-old man will spend 10 years in prison for setting fires to dozens of semi trucks across the country, including several trucks in Arizona.
Viorel Pricop targeted Phoenix-based Swift Transportation in a year-long arson spree that began in October 2021.
He set fires in semi trucks at gas stations and rest areas along Interstate 10 and Interstate 40 between California and Alabama.
Two of the arsons happened in Willcox and one in Holbrook.
Pricop targeted Swift Transportation because an investigation by the company led to tax and theft convictions in 2018. He spent two years behind bars for those convictions and started setting the fires shortly after his release.
