SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Good news and bad news concerning gas prices in San Antonio and across Texas.
Drivers in the Alamo City are paying 11 cents more than what they were paying last week. The current average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is now $2.76.
The statewide gas price average in Texas is $2.81 per gallon for regular unleaded fuel, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch. That price is nine cents more when compared to this day last week and is 35 cents less per gallon compared to this day last year.
“Despite modest increases in some metro areas, overall fuel prices remain favorable for summer travel,” said Daniel Armbruster, spokesperson for AAA Texas. “Ample supply and relatively stable crude oil prices are helping to keep gasoline more affordable for drivers across the state.”
Of the major metropolitan areas surveyed in Texas, drivers in Dallas and Fort Worth are paying the most on average at $2.95 per gallon while drivers in the Amarillo area are paying the least at $2.62 per gallon. The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.17, which is one cent more when compared to this day last week and 37 cents less per gallon when compared to this day last year.
While the statewide average price for gasoline rose slightly week-over-week, Texas drivers are still benefiting from the lowest summer gas prices in four years. The seasonal relief at the pump can be attributed to a well-supplied global oil market. Crude oil, the primary component in gasoline production, remains one of the most significant factors influencing retail fuel prices.
