Salt + Lime Modern Mexican Grill is partnering with Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation (AFFCF) this month through its monthly “Chips for Charity” program, raising funds to help foster youth access enriching childhood experiences.
With locations in Scottsdale and Cave Creek, Salt + Lime is offering unlimited chips and salsa for $5 throughout the month, with a portion of proceeds supporting AFFCF’s Childhood Activities fund. The program helps cover costs for extracurricular activities and essentials, including summer camps, instrument rentals, field trips, bicycles and more for children and teens in foster care.
“We need to do our part as a local restaurant and give back to our community,” said Salt + Lime owner Sandra Van Deraa. “It’s an honor to partner with AFFCF for these kids to experience joy through exploring new hobbies, attending social functions like summer camps, and overall having the chance to just be kids.”
AFFCF, a Phoenix-based nonprofit, supports youth up to age 20 and aims to provide opportunities that foster a sense of normalcy for children navigating the foster care system.
“Chips for Charity will help foster youth the same opportunities for a memorable summer vacation as a child with a more traditional support system,” said Sophia Campbell, AFFCF’s director of development and philanthropy. “Being able to talk about their summer break and attend camp with their peers builds confidence and helps prevent summer learning loss.”
Each month, Salt + Lime donates between $2,000 and $5,000 to a selected nonprofit. Past beneficiaries include Special Olympics Arizona, Miracle League of Arizona, and the Nicole Hazen Fund for Hope. AFFCF will receive the funds raised at the end of July.
AFFCF also provides scholarships, emergency financial assistance, and other resources to help foster youth transition into adulthood. More information is available at affcf.org.
Salt + Lime plans to expand later this summer with a third location. For more information, visit saltandlimeaz.com.
