PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Police have made an arrest more than six years after a shooting left an 18-year-old dead in west Phoenix.
Phoenix police said Thursday that Kevin Ramirez, 21, was booked into jail in connection with the death of 18-year-old Ethan Derivera.

Jail records revealed he faces one count of first-degree murder and one count of armed robbery with a deadly weapon.
According to authorities, the shooting happened on Oct. 21, 2019, just before 8:30 p.m. in a parking lot near 70th Avenue and McDowell Road.
Officers arrived at the scene after responding to the shots fired call to find Derivera sitting in the driver’s seat of the car with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
On Jan. 21, 2026, detectives found Ramirez and arrested him in connection with the murder. However, details on what linked him to the crime haven’t been made public.
Phoenix Police Sgt. Jen Zak said detectives are still working to learn more about what led up to Derivera’s death and are asking witnesses or anyone with tips to come forward.
Ramirez is being held on a $1 million bond, records showed.
