PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Today will be the coolest day of the weekend with a high near 101. Breezes will pick up a bit from the southwest at 5-15 mph this afternoon into this evening, but it won’t be quite as breezy as Saturday.
The average high temperature for today is 106. If we only make it to 99 today, it would be a rare event. Since the year 2000, only seven days have been below 100 degrees from June 20 to June 30. The most recent time that happened was June 23, 2021, when the Phoenix high temperature was 95.
Temperatures stay below normal to start the work week, with highs near 103 to 104 on Monday and Tuesday. We will get close to normal on Wednesday, with a high around 105. This will be followed by highs ranging from 108 to 110 by the end of the week and into the weekend.
For the high country, a Red Flag Warning is in effect for northeast Arizona today. Winds will gust 30-40 mph at times with very low humidity. Some moisture will drift into eastern Arizona next week, bringing in the chance of showers and thunderstorms from Tuesday through the end of the week. The best chance for a few of these storms will be in areas like the White Mountains.
