The total purse for the 2026 WM Phoenix Open is $9.6 million. The winner will take home $1.728 million, or 18 percent of the total purse. That’s up from the $1.656 million Thomas Detry, now with LIV Golf, took home for winning a year ago.

Three-time winners of the WM Phoenix Open

Four golfers have won the tournament three times:

  • Phil Mickelson: 1996, 2005, 2013
  • Mark Calcavecchia: 1989, 1992, 2001
  • Gene Littler: 1955, 1959, 1969
  • Arnold Palmer: 1961, 1962, 1963

Mickelson and Calcavecchia each won all three of theirs at TPC Scottsdale. Matsuyama is angling to be the fifth to win three Phoenix Open titles.

What time does the Super Bowl start?

One of the many traditions is that the WM Phoenix Open’s final round takes place on the same day as the Super Bowl. Typically, the final round ends around 6 p.m. ET and the big game typically kicks off just before 6:30 p.m. ET. That makes for an easy lead-in for sports fans. Even when there’s a golf playoff, things can wrap up before kickoff.
