Cooler temps bring relief with highs dropping below 110 in Phoenix

  • June 22, 2025

PHOENIX (AZFamily)—A Red Flag Warning remains in effect through 8 p.m. Saturday evening due to strong winds and dry conditions across the state. This warning applies to all of northern Arizona and locations just northeast of Phoenix.

Widespread breezy to windy conditions will continue through the evening, with a light breeze tomorrow in northern Arizona. As a trough digs over the region, the winds will stay elevated through this evening and overnight and die down a bit on Sunday.

We’re tracking a big change in temperatures compared to last week! Today is the first time we have dropped below 110 degrees in Phoenix since June 14. So far, our hottest day of the year happened on Thursday, with a high of 117 degrees. For Sunday, temperatures are expected to drop below the average of 106 degrees for this time of the year.

Phoenix’s high temperature is 100 degrees, and it was still below the average through the beginning of the week. This is unusual for late June! We have to enjoy it because by the upcoming weekend, 110s are back in the forecast.

Some monsoon moisture is over northern Mexico and will try to move into southeastern Arizona, which could bring isolated showers and thunderstorms Tuesday for Gila County and the White Mountains.
