A third man is facing a capital murder charge in connection to a fatal shooting that happened in South Dallas in February, police said Friday.

Officers responded to a shooting call in the 5300 block of Dimple Jackson Street at about 12:35 a.m. on Feb. 28. They found 40-year-old James Brown, Jr. shot at the scene, and he later died at a local hospital.

On Friday, police linked 35-year-old Corey Jackson to the fatal shooting and said he was already in Dallas County jail on unrelated charges, including assault on a family or household member following a previous conviction for a similar crime. Online records show he was booked into the jail on Sunday.

It was not immediately clear if Jackson has an attorney.
