Here are 23 choices for StarNews Preseason Baseball Player of the Year

It may feel too cold to think about baseball after a winter that has already delivered snow and frigid temperatures, but the high school season is nearly here.

North Carolina high school teams can begin play as early as Feb. 25, putting first pitch just over two weeks away.

Last season delivered no shortage of storylines across the Wilmington area. Laney captured its first league championship in 16 years and surged all the way to a state title game. Ashley spent much of the spring ranked No. 1 in the nation.

Now, with a new wave of players ready to step into the spotlight, it is time for fans to weigh in.

From now through Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 11:59 p.m., fans can vote among 23 nominees in the StarNews Preseason Baseball Player of the Year Poll.
