The Phoenix Suns traveled to play in the 2K26 NBA Las Vegas Summer League after practice on July 9.

They also went to Vegas to meet with Devin Booker and party after he signed a historic two-year, $145 million contract extension, per ESPN’s Shams Charania on July 11.

Booker officially signed his new deal on July 10, which marked the highest annual extension salary ever in the league.

“For starters, Devin Booker is Mr. Phoenix,” Charania said on the network’s show NBA Today. “The Suns roster flew out on Wednesday to celebrate and honor his extension. I’m told they surprised him with a team dinner at Delilah (restaurant) at the Wynn (casino).

The four-time All-Star Booker is entering his 11th season, all with the Suns, and his new contract keeps him with the team through the 2029-20 season. Booker became the franchise’s all-time leading scorer last season, in which they won just 36 games and missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2019-20 season.

Booker’s currently in the second of the four-year, $220.4 million extension that he signed in 2022. He was an All-NBA First Team selection and finished fourth in MVP voting that year.

“Everything about Devin Booker has been about commitment back to the franchise, Charania said. “He’s said publicly, privately behind the scenes that he wants to retire in Phoenix. He wants to bring a championship to Phoenix.”

Suns owner Mat Ishbia sat beside Booker as he signed the deal in Vegas. Ishbia released a statement about what Booker’s means to Arizona.

“Devin Booker is the embodiment of the Phoenix Suns, representing the best of our organization, our community and our future,” Ishbia said. “As the team’s all-time leading scorer, his on-court achievements are unparalleled and the result of his relentless preparation and unwavering pursuit of excellence.

“His character, leadership and ‘I’ll do it’ mentality define the standards and culture we uphold. Moreover, his connection with our fans is unique – his impact resonates across the Valley, and his tireless efforts in supporting Arizona’s youth and families reflect the deep community bond we cherish,” Ishbia added.

After Booker signed his new deal, he sent a heartfelt message to Suns fans and the organization.

“This moment means so much to me and my family,” Booker said. “Ten years ago, my NBA dreams became reality when I was drafted here and Phoenix is my home. I love this city and am proud of what we have accomplished throughout my decade here. I am grateful to Mat Ishbia and the entire Phoenix Suns organization for the partnership. Thank you fans for your loyalty and support. More to come!!”
