Charlie Cummings gives his top DraftKings WNBA Pick6 plays and projections for the two-game WNBA slate on Saturday, July 12th.
WNBA action on Saturday will kick off at 1 p.m. ET. We have a two-game slate, starting with the Lynx taking on the Sky, followed by the Valkyries against the Aces. One of the more unique features on DraftKings this year is Pick6 Fantasy Basketball!
This article will examine my top WNBA Pick6 plays for today’s action. You simply choose whether each set statistic will be more or less than the set number. With the stage ready, here are my favorite picks on the WNBA Pick6 slate.
Napheesa Collier More Than 21.5 Points Scored
It’s been an incredible scoring ride for Napheesa Collier this year. The leading scorer in the WNBA has racked up 20+ points in 13-of-18 contests this season. To say that it’s a ridiculous feat is one thing; add in the fact that she’s coming off a DPOY campaign, and you have an all-time season brewing.
One interesting aspect of her year is her three-point shooting. In Phee’s first ten games, she was hitting 44% of her 3.6 three-point attempts per game. That’s down to 15.6% on 4.0 attempts per game over her last eight. It’s no wonder her scoring fell from 26.6 to 20.1 points per game in those two respective stretches. She’s never been a lights-out shooter from deep, but this is an unusual slump.
Lucky for her, the Sky are on deck for Saturday. Chicago gives up the most three-pointers per game (10.0) at the highest clip (37.5%) in the league. If there was ever a day for Phee’s shot to return to her, it’s Saturday. Even if she isn’t raining threes, Collier is capable of beating up on one of the worst defenses in the league.
Jackie Young Less Than 17.5 Points
With A’ja Wilson out of the lineup, someone has to step up and take control of the Las Vegas offense. In its last game, Jackie Young shouldered the offensive burden, with poor results. She managed 10 points on 5-of-15 shooting. Inefficiency is nothing new for JY this year; her effective field goal percentage (48.5%) is the lowest since her 2019 rookie season.
Things won’t get any easier against a rock-solid Golden State Valkyries defense. The backcourt of Tip Hayes and Veronica Burton is a potent one-two punch of perimeter defense. Veronica Burton and Temi Fagbenle are excellent in rotation and will protect the paint. Jackie’s ability to drive will be severely hampered in this one.
Her point total has been increased due to Wilson’s absence, but the opposite should be the case. Increased usage will come with tougher looks. That’s not a winning equation for Young against the Valks.
Courtney Williams More Than 2.5 Three-Pointers Made
This is a big swing, but hear me out. Courtney Williams has had a strong shooting season so far, hitting 38.8% of her looks from deep. It’s been a career year in terms of three-point volume; the All-Star is taking 3.8 shots per game from beyond the arc.
Williams’ numbers have only gone up recently: she’s taking 5.3 threes per game over her last four contests. That includes a 2-for-5 performance against these same Chicago Sky. As I mentioned earlier, this Sky team has been the worst in the league at preventing three-pointers. And while the 3.1x multiplier is a risk for a reason, the rewards could be immense. I’m taking C-Will to hand out some serious buckets in this Saturday matinee.
