After several hours of what were described as intermittent outages, 911 services have been restored in Pennsylvania, emergency management officials said late Friday night.”An investigation into what caused intermittent outages will continue, and we will update you on that as soon as we can,” the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency posted on social media. “We worked with counties to fully test that the system is operational.”A statewide alert blared across cellphones on Friday afternoon to warn people of the situation, which began around 2 p.m., PEMA Director Randy Padfield said during a news conference in Harrisburg.”This was originally detected with calls going in to the Delaware County 911 center,” Padfield said. “The NextGen 911 service provider immediately notified our 911 team and engaged to start troubleshooting the issue.”Padfield said it was too early to determine a cause.”It could be a software issue. It could be a hardware issue.
