Residents in the immediate area were advised to shelter in place as emergency crews assessed the situation.
The Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office Hazmat team made entry and successfully isolated the leak. Officials later confirmed the substance involved was crude oil, not natural gas as initially feared.
The Crosby Fire Department contained the product, while air monitoring was conducted to evaluate any potential risk to nearby residents.
After completing assessments, authorities determined there was no ongoing threat to the community and lifted the shelter-in-place order.
Officials have not reported any injuries in connection with the incident.
