OPINION — Marc Lamber is absolutely correct that Arizona’s e-bike laws are broken and cities can’t fix them alone.

I have seen too many close calls and have been involved in too many close calls with e-vehicles.

I am 83 years old and am still very active riding human-powered bicycles. I have encountered e-vehicles on the canals, sidewalks and at Dreamy Draw.

A lot of e-vehicle operators have no respect for pedestrians, horses or people operating non-e-vehicles. A lot of families use our canals and Dreamy Draw for exercise and relaxation expecting safety while using these areas.

I agree with Marc Lamber’s entire article. Our society does not need more hazards but more safety. Life is stressful enough.
