A pedestrian was struck when a police chase ended in a crash on Chicago’s Near West Side.
The chase began in west suburban Cicero around 3:30 p.m. What prompted the police pursuit was not immediately known.
The chase went into Chicago and eventually ended with a crash on the Near West Side at Oakley and Madison.
Chicago fire officials said a pedestrian was hit in the crash but did not have information on their condition, age or gender.
Multiple CPD squad cars were at the scene where a blue car was angled across a sidewalk and appeared to have struck or nearly struck a building.
Another car – possibly a truck or an SUV – could be seen in an empty lot, appearing to have been struck by the car that was being chase and spinning out through a fence and into that lot.
It was also not known if anyone had been taken into custody after the crash.
So far the only reports of injuries involved the pedestrian; officials have not said if the other driver struck, anyone in the car police were chasing or any officers were hurt.
