Cameron Brink might be closer to a return to the WNBA and the Los Angeles Sparks than we thought. A new status update reveals a potential timeline for her first game back.
She could get back on the floor as soon as this month! (“Could” being the key word…)
Brink, 23, tore her Anterior Cruciate Ligament during the 15th game of her rookie season in the WNBA. It was a pretty gruesome injury. 6-foot-4 does not go down easy.
Although Brink’s first year in the league was cut short, the Sparks are not in a position to compete for a championships so they are not going to rush her back. A full recovery from a torn ACL requires at least nine months. At least. It normally takes closer to 12 or 14. At least.
In this instance, Brink tore her ACL on June 18, 2024. She is 13 months removed from the initial injury.
When will Cameron Brink return to play?
Her recovery appeared to be ahead of schedule at this time last year. Brink was able to walk without a knee brace less than one month after surgery, which seemed to be a great sign. It was even more encouraging when she was able to run on a treadmill without assistance back in the middle of May.
Now the middle of July, Cameron Brink was officially upgraded from ‘Out’ to ‘Questionable’ prior to Los Angeles’ most recent game against the Indiana Fever on July 11. She didn’t play but that is huge news.

Brink most recently partook in some on-court “skeleton work” at practice.

She also continues to partake in shooting, conditioning and ball-handling drills after practices. That is another positive sign for her recovery.
Brink said on a recent episode ‘Celebrity Wheel of Fortune’ that it would take her “a couple months” to be back. I believe her episode was filmed at the beginning of the year. A couple months have passed at this point but I would assume it was a figure of speech.
All of the latest signs point toward a return this season with extremely limited minutes at first. For Cameron Brink to be upgraded from Out to Questionable is a very big deal.
