LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU) – On the campaign trail, Senator Baldwin visited democratic candidate Rebecca Cooke during a campaign stop in La Crosse.
As a candidate for Wisconsin’s 3rd congressional district, Cooke is looking to connect with voters in the Coulee Region.
Cooke is addressing western Wisconsin’s rural health care crisis following the closures of HSHS hospitals in Eau Claire.
She says increasing healthcare access and affordability is one of the reasons why she is running for congress.
“I want to increase Medicare, Medicaid, and reimbursement rates so that our rural hospitals are able to keep their doors open, and our small-town communities can provide the care that they really need,” said Cooke.
Cooke is looking to unseat Republican Congressman Derrick Van Orden. She faces democrats Emily Berge and Rodney Rave in the August primary race.
