Syracuse, N.Y. – Syracuse and parts of Central New York and the Finger Lakes are under a heat advisory today as temperatures could feel close to 100 degrees in some areas, according to the National Weather Service.

The advisory covers several counties, including Cayuga, Erie, Madison, Monroe, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego and Tompkins.

On Saturday, Syracuse will see temperatures in the upper 80s, though by afternoon it will feel about 10 degrees hotter, according to the weather service.

The heat comes with a small chance of thunderstorms throughout the day, which expect to clear by 9 p.m.

Don’t expect much relief from the heat overnight. Saturday night’s lows will linger in the mid 70s.

Temperatures in the Syracuse area Sunday will reach the mid-80s. The heat index will climb again into the 90s, according to the weather service.

Rain is much more likely throughout the day on Sunday. More than half an inch if forecast in the Syracuse area.

There is also a high chance of thunderstorms starting in mid-afternoon that could continue through the night and into Monday morning, according to the weather service.

Isolated flash floods are also possible for parts of Central NY and the Southern Tier.
