PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Plan for a hot weekend with above normal temperatures around 110 Saturday and Sunday.
We are tracking some changes for the upcoming work week with slightly cooler temps and monsoon moisture returning.
The average temperature for this time of the year is 107. We’ll stay above that for the next few days until we see cooler temperatures by the middle of the week, with 105 on Wednesday and 102 on Thursday, before returning above 105 for the weekend. The chance of showers and storms in the Valley will start on Wednesday evening, with about a 20% chance on Thursday and Friday.
An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for the lower elevations of the Grand Canyon this weekend into Wednesday, and a Blowing Dust Advisory is in effect Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. for southeastern Arizona, where outflow boundaries from storms could kick up the wind and create hazardous conditions from blowing dust. This includes areas like Safford and Sierra Vista.
Showers and storms are likely to remain limited to eastern Arizona this weekend, with shower chances increasing by the middle of next week.
