PHOENIX (AZFamily) —Above-normal temperatures are expected to continue through Monday, but changes are on the way. These changes include dropping temperatures and increasing thunderstorm chances later this week.
Highs for Sunday and Monday are expected to be near 111°F in the Valley. The normal high is 107°F, so this will be 4 degrees above normal. While this is not considered extreme heat, it is still quite warm, so please make sure you have water handy and a source of shade nearby.
On Tuesday, temperatures are expected to drop to around 108°F, which is just a bit above normal. There may be some thunderstorms in the higher terrain east of Phoenix, with a slight chance that one or two of those storms reach the Valley.
Wednesday and Thursday may be our best chance of the week to get some storms in the Valley. As of now, those chances are 30% on Wednesday and 40% on Thursday. In addition, temperatures are expected to fall below normal, with highs of 104°F on Wednesday and 102°F on Thursday. There is a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms on Friday, with only a slight chance on Saturday. By Saturday, temperatures may begin to rise slightly above normal.
The timing of the potential rain this week may change over the coming days, so please check back in with us as we fine-tune the details.
