Re “Unresponsive government leaders a source of frustration” (July 3): A recent letter from a Chula Vista reader reflected on the governor’s lack of response to his messages. This nonresponsiveness seems to apply to San Diego’s mayor and council members as well. It’s like they all attended a seminar and were told that if elected politicians do nothing and say nothing — or just blurt “possible litigation” — they almost never fail to be re-elected.

Take Mayor Gloria (please): To my knowledge, he almost never responds to queries unless they praise him. If we get any response at all, it’s from anyone but the person being paid to answer questions about what’s going on. If citizens can just learn to reject “incumbents” who refuse to address their job performance, the world will be a better place.
