Chicago police have stepped up their investigation into a hit-and-run that left a 7-year-old critically hurt.
Authorities released a community alert over the weekend on the hit-and-run, which occurred July 4 in the West Woodlawn neighborhood.
Included in that community alert was a picture of the suspect vehicle, a black/dark grey SUV that struck the child and then fled the scene.
At approximately 8:51 p.m. on July 4 in the 800 block of East Marquette, the SUV struck the 7-year-old and then fled the scene, leaving the child with “severe injuries,” according to Chicago police.
The vehicle, which may be a four-door Lincoln Corsair, was traveling westbound on Marquette Road at the time of the crash and fled the scene in that direction. It may have suffered front-end damage as a result of the collision.
