A man suspected of breaking into a Phoenix home was shot and killed by the homeowner early on July 13, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
At about 7:45 a.m., Phoenix police officers responded to a call about a burglary at a home in the area of 7300 N. 12th Avenue, which is just northeast of the intersection of West Glendale and North 15th avenues, according to Sgt. Brian Bower.
As officers were getting to the scene, it was reported that the homeowner had shot the burglary suspect. He was pronounced dead at he scene, Bower said.
The homeowner was cooperating with the police investigation, Bower said.
Police have not yet identified the man killed. Bower said police would not release the man’s identity until his next of kin were notified and detectives completed their initial report.
