Chicago police were searching for a gunman on an electric scooter who shot and robbed a teenage boy on the city’s Far North Side, authorities said Sunday.
At around 5:15 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was approached by a man riding a scooter in the 2100 block of West Granville Avenue near Hoyne Avenue. The suspect displayed a gun, took the victim’s property and fired a shot in his direction, Chicago police said.
The teen sustained a gunshot wound to his upper body and left forearm. He was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition.
The suspect fled in an unknown direction, riding the electric scooter. As of Sunday night, no suspects had been identified.
Area Three detectives were investigating.
