SAN ANTONIO — A man in his 30s was hospitalized with a gunshot wound after telling police he was robbed several hours earlier, but authorities say it appears the man may have shot himself.

Police were called to a shooting in progress around 2:14 p.m. Sunday to a North Side apartment complex off of Woodstone Drive and I-10.

According to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), the man claimed he was robbed several hours earlier, around 5 a.m., by multiple individuals. He told police he was hesitant to call authorities at first, because he was afraid, but his family advised him to call.

Police said the man had a gunshot wound on his left leg that entered through his thigh and exited through his shin. Authorities say the wound appears to be self-inflicted.

The man was transported to University Hospital in serious but not critical condition. No further information was given at the scene.
