A motorcyclist was killed Sunday when he crashed into a sedan on the Santa Monica (10) Freeway in the Pico-Union area of Los Angeles.

The crash occurred about 2:25 a.m. Sunday on the westbound freeway, just east of Budlong Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The preliminary investigation suggested that an orange 2015 Harley- Davidson motorcycle was westbound in the No. 2 lane when it struck the rear of a 2023 Toyota Camry, the driver lost control of the motorcycle and he suffered fatal injuries.

The motorcyclist was identified as 37-year-old Kevin M. White of Los Angeles, according to the CHP and the Medical Examiner’s office.

The 65-year-old Glendale man driving the Camry was not injured, officers said.

The investigation was continuing, the CHP reported.

All lanes of traffic on the westbound freeway, just east of Western Avenue, were stopped at 2:29 a.m., the CHP reported.

The roadway was cleared at 5:44 a.m.
