PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A shooting along a popular stretch in downtown Phoenix left two people hurt late Friday night.
Around 11:30 p.m., Phoenix police officers received reports of a shooting near 5th and Roosevelt streets. When officers arrived, they found a woman and teen boy injured from gunfire.
Police say the two victims were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to be okay. Investigators believe the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.
The area was shut down as investigators worked to gather evidence but reopened early Saturday morning.
The popular First Friday event, which occurs along Roosevelt Row, was being held in downtown until 10 p.m.
No additional details, including a description of the suspect, have been determined at this time. Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to contact Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish speakers. The public can also submit a tip anonymously online.
