A homeowner with a concealed-carry license shot a burglar who had entered his garage early Saturday morning in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood, authorities said.

At around 2:39 a.m., officers responded to a call of a burglary in progress along South Loomis Street near West 31st Street. Police said a 59-year-old man went into a garage and was confronted by the homeowner, who opened fire.

The suspect sustained a gunshot wound to the right calf and was taken to an area hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
