Phoenix police used pepper balls to disperse a disruptive crowd during First Friday festivities after responding to a fight, according to police statements.

PHOENIX — The Phoenix Police Department allegedly had to use pepper balls to disperse a crowd of people after a fight broke out during First Friday festivities in downtown Phoenix.

Police said that around 11:30 p.m., officers were called to a fight near 7th and Roosevelt streets.

Upon arrival, police said they found a large crowd.

At least two men were detained, and as officers continued to investigate, the crowd began to become disruptive, police said.

Officers said they used a less-lethal pepperball launcher to get the crowd to disperse.

The men admitted to fighting but did not want to press charges, police said.

A couple of minutes later, there was an unrelated shooting nearby.
