After helping the Randall boys basketball program make history over the past three years, a trio of former Raiders’ standouts have made their college decisions.
Recent graduates Dawson Heider, Tayesen Combs and Jaxon Toniolli left their mark at RHS under Leslie Broadhurst and Trevor Johnson, and will now look to leave new legacies at the next level.
Heider, a 6-foot-7 big man, is staying home after announcing his commitment to West Texas A&M on July 9. The former Raiders’ standout will join Tom Brown in a Buffs’ program that reached the Final Four in 2024 and made another NCAA Division II Tournament appearance in 2025.
I am beyond blessed to announce my commitment to West Texas A&M University. Thank you to Coach Brown and Coach Gove for this opportunity, and to my family, coaches, teammates, and friends for their support along the way. Go Buffs. 🦬🤙🏼 pic.twitter.com/PpTzcIsTqF

With good strength, rebounding prowess and touch around the rim, Heider should be a solid option in Brown’s big-man rotation down the road.
Toniolli, a 6-foot-2 lead guard, revealed his pledge to William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri, five days before his teammate committed to WTAMU. Toniolli brings good playmaking, shooting and ball-handling skills to an Owls program that competes in the NAIA.
Combs pledge came in late April, as the 6-foot-2 shooting guard signed with Murray State College, a community college in Tishomingo, Oklahoma.
The talented scorer earned THSCA Class 4A Super Elite MVP, TABC All-State, and District 4-4A MVP recognition after averaging 20 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.4 steals per game as a senior.

Randall basketball’s Tayesen Combs drives and scores against Brock in the Region I-4A Division II semifinal in Snyder on Feb. 24, 2025.
Together, the trio of Heider, Toniolli and Combs led Randall to a 31-6 record in 2024-25 after helping the team to its first two state tournament appearances in program history in 2023 and 2024 under the tutelage of Broadhurst.
After the longtime head coach retired in May 2024, the trio helped the Raiders reach the Class 4A Division II Region I final in Johnson’s first year at the helm. Without the talented trio, who each spent the past three seasons on RHS’ varsity squad, a new group of players will take over as the leaders of Johnson’s program.
