A blaze in suburban Blue Island early Monday morning left one home destroyed, with the roof completely collapsed and another nearby with broken windows as black smoke billowed into the air.

Photos and video from the scene, on Vermont Street between Seeley and Hoyne showed firefighters from at least two departments including Calumet City and Evergreen Park, surveying the damage from the charred structures.

An arson investigator was also on the scene, video showed.

Fire trucks could be seen blocking streets in the area, not far from the Blue Island Metra Station, which serves both the Rock Island and Metra Electric lines.

It wasn’t immediately known how many structures were involved, or if any injuries were reported.

No further details were available. This is a developing story that will be updated.
