Scottsdale Police detectives arrested Jaime Rodriguez, 44, charging him with an unusually intense harassment of his ex-wife.

Scottsdale Police Sgt. Allison Sempsis said Rodriguez engaged in “a months-long stalking investigation involving significant property damage at a condominium complex in Scottsdale.”

Over the course of several months, Sempsis said, Scottsdale police were investigating numerous incidents in which rocks shattered windows and residents reported hearing impacts against windows in the area of 4400 N. 75th Street.

Using surveillance techniques, she said, detectives pegged Rodriguez as the suspect responsible for breaking windows with a slingshot.

The estimated damage is approximately $100,000.

“The investigation showed the projectiles appeared to target the person the suspect’s ex-wife was dating,” Sempsis added.

Rodriguez also was charged with stalking and harassing his ex-wife – calling her bank more than 1,700 times, “possibly seeking information about her financial activity and location.”

And the victim told police she found an Apple AirTag hidden under the hood of her vehicle.

Fittingly enough, Rodriguez was arrested on Feb. 14 – Valentine’s Day.

He was taken into custody and transported to the Maricopa County Jail.

But he may not have learned his lesson.

“After additional investigation,” Sempsis said, “on March 3,  Rodriguez was again placed under arrest for multiple counts of stalking.”
