GOOSE CREEK S.C. (WCIV) — (UPDATE) As of approximately 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, Santee Cooper reports that the damaged water line has been repaired, however a boil water advisory remains in effect.

According to officials, crews worked into the night to repair and restore pressure to the damaged system. As it stands hoewever, a boil water advisory will remain in effect while water quality testing is completed. That testing is anticipated to be complete within the next 24 hours.

(ORIGINAL) Santee Cooper crews are set to begin a permanent repair tonight on the damaged water line in Goose Creek.

The work is expected to start around 6 p.m. and take at least six hours, Santee Cooper said, with boil advisories likely to remain in place for at least 24 hours after the repair is complete.

A temporary repair was conducted early this morning. Tonight’s repair is expected to include dewatering the pipe, cutting out the damaged section, and replacing it, officials said.
