What else do you want me to do on July 14?
We’ll have a lot of preseason football content coming over the next six weeks, but how about for the next 300ish words we just have some fun, and I spitball some reactions to new video of Illinois transfer Andrej Stojakovic.
First, here’s the tweet.
The Illini posted the three clips on their official X account Monday night, and they called it a “newcomer first look.”
All three videos show Stojakovic attacking the basket, especially in traffic.
Let’s start with that first clip. We don’t know what happened before the dunk, but look at him get that elevation! And let’s assume it was a breakaway steal or something — the separation between him and the rest of the defense is unreal! (Right?)
But don’t you worry — the second video (on the top right) proves he has the ability to work in traffic as he’s able to weave through the Twin Towers en route to a snazzy layup. Not many teams will have guys like Big T and Big Z out on the court at the same time this season, so his ability to work through them should bode well for smaller teams.
Finally, that third video is just a nice-looking finish.
Again, there’s not too much to glean from all of this, but you have to like what you see. The ability to get to the hoop was missing at times last season, and it may make you reminisce of a guy like Terrence Shannon Jr. from two years ago. (Things are working out for him pretty well right now…)
We’d like to see Stojakovic get some shots up in Ubben, but those clips weren’t included in the post.
So, for now, we’ll just have to assume he’s an “elite” finisher at the rim.
Good enough for me!
