Harris Health officials are inviting the public to various town hall meetings throughout Harris County to provide an update on the $2.5 billion bond voters approved in November 2023. Harris Health President and CEO Dr. Esmaeil Porsa and the hospital system’s executive leadership team will be in attendance at these meetings, according to the event website.
Hospital officials said the bond funding allowed for the renovation of Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital in northeast Houston, the expansion of Ben Taub Hospital, and the creation of new community clinics in Harris County Precincts 2, 3 and 4.
Porsa said the hospitals have failing infrastructure as the county population is rapidly growing. The LBJ Hospital expansion project is on track for completion by fall 2028.
