The Minnesota State Fair needs a lot of people to help keep the 12-day event running, and right now, they are looking to employ about 3,000 people.
The Great Minnesota Get Together is currently hiring for various part-time positions, including ticket sellers and takers, parking and park & ride attendants, barn attendants, custodians and more.
Anyone looking for a job can visit the Employment Center, located across from the fairgrounds, until the fair starts to apply. The building is located at 1640 Como Avenue. There is free parking, or people can take the Metro Transit bus route 3 or the A Line.
The fair is also hosting a job fair on Wednesday, July 23, from 4-7 p.m. at the North End Event Center on the fairgrounds. People attending can enter Gate 3 (Hoyt Avenue Gate) off Snelling Avenue, Gate 5 (Main Gate) off Snelling Avenue or Gate 7 off Como Avenue. People can ride Metro Transit bus routes 3, 61 or the A Line to get to the fairgrounds. You can find a map HERE.
Resumes are not needed for the job fair; instead, people will meet with a fair representative, and if someone’s interests, experience, and availability match an open position, they will be interviewed on the spot. Anyone hired will be required to undergo a background check.
Anyone attending the job fair or stopping by the employment center for a job is encouraged to register online first to speed up the hiring process.
Shifts can be anywhere between six to 12 hours for the duration of the fair.
Volunteers are also needed to serve the fair. The time commitment is much less with shifts only two to three hours at one of these exhibits: Alphabet Forest, The Common Table, EquiMania, Kemps Little Farm Hands and Math On-a-Stick. All volunteers get a free ticket to the fair on the day they are helping and can arrive early or stay after a shift to enjoy the fair. You can learn more about volunteer opportunities HERE.
