SAN ANTONIO – Tucked near a busy military base on San Antonio’s South Side, Brenda’s Burgers has become more than just a neighborhood burger joint; it’s a multi-generational tradition.

What started as a small dream in 1988 has now become a beloved local institution with nearly five decades of family, flavor, and loyalty at its heart.

“This is where she started,” said Crystal, Brenda’s daughter. “It’s where my mom grew up, where the business took off. We’ve always lived here, and we’re proud to serve the South Side.”

Brenda opened the doors 47 years ago with a toddler on her hip and a passion for making honest food. “Robin, my oldest daughter, was two years old when I opened,” Brenda recalled. “Crystal was born three years after that.” Through the years, the building has seen plenty of updates, new touches to the menu, and renovations to the space, but what hasn’t changed is the heart behind it all.

“We’re grateful so many of our employees have stayed with us all these years. They’ve become family,” said Crystal. “We’ve seen customers grow up, have kids, and now their kids bring their own kids. We’ve served four generations at this point.”

At Brenda’s, freshness is non-negotiable.

“We don’t serve anything we wouldn’t eat ourselves,” Brenda said. “Everything’s made fresh daily, and we don’t start cooking it until you order.”

Brenda’s Burgers is open every day except Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
