LAS VEGAS — San Diego State players did not dominated the 2025 preseason all-Mountain West football team, but the Aztecs were represented.

That’s more than they could be said last year, when no SDSU players were picked for the team for only the third time in more than two decades.

This year’s preseason squad includes three Aztecs — junior edge Trey White, junior linebacker Tano Letuli and senior kicker Gabe Plascencia.

More significantly, two of the three players received additional honors.

White was picked as Defensive Player of the Year and Plascencia as Special Teams Player of the Year.

White was a first-team all-MW selection last season after finishing among the nation’s leaders with 12 1/2 sacks. Plascencia was a second-team pick, leading the conference in field-goal percentage after making 13 of 14 attempts.

The 28-man preseason team was released Wednesday during Mountain West media days at the Circa Resort & Casino. Boise State, picked for the 15th straight year to finish first, dominated the team with 10 selections. No other school had more than three picks.

Boise State quarterback Maddux Madsen was picked as Offensive Player of the Year. Madsen led the Mountain West in passing yards (3,018) and touchdowns (23) last season and was second in passing efficiency (142.5). He also rushed for 221 yards and five touchdowns.

Madsen was joined by nine Broncos teammates. SDSU and San Jose State were next with three selections. Hawaii, New Mexico, UNLV and Wyoming had two apiece while Air Force, Fresno State, Nevada and Utah State had one.

SDSU, which opens the season Aug. 28 against Stony Brook at Snapdragon Stadium, was picked for eighth place in the Mountain West preseason poll.
