A man is in custody after police surrounded an apartment following an attempted traffic stop in Phoenix.
PHOENIX — A man was taken into custody Sunday night, the Phoenix Police Department said.
Around 10 p.m., officers were sent to a scene near 40th Street and Southern Avenue to attempt to stop a vehicle. When police arrived, the driver did not stop, officials said.
According to Phoenix PD, the male driver stopped the vehicle and took off running into an apartment complex. The man reportedly knew the apartment he ran into.
Officers then established a containment perimeter around the apartment and began negotiating with him. Eventually, the man left the apartment, was taken into custody, and faces charges stemming from this investigation.
The identity of the man was not released and additional details of the incident are part of the ongoing investigation.
