Phoenix sees rare June cooldown with highs in the 90s

  • June 23, 2025

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Temperatures today are the coolest they have been since June 4!

Phoenix’s highs are in the upper 90s today, a big drop from the 117-degree temperatures we had on Thursday. This is also very rare for late June.

Phoenix only had temperatures shy of 100 degrees seven times between June 20 and 30 in the 2000s. Today’s average high temperature is 106 degrees. Temperatures will stay below normal, hovering around 103-104 through Wednesday, followed by much hotter temperatures by the weekend.

A Red Flag Warning remains in effect this evening for northeastern Arizona due to strong wind gusts around 40 mph and very low humidity.

As far as any monsoon moisture goes, some will move into southeastern Arizona, bringing a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms Tuesday evening into the end of the week. A few of these storms are possible in eastern Arizona, in areas like the White Mountains.
