SAN ANTONIO — Volunteers from church congregations across the United States have arrived in the Hill Country to deliver emergency relief items to those affected by recent deadly flooding.
Members of Shincheonji USA traveled from states including California, New York, and Georgia to hand-deliver supplies for rescue missions and provide essential items to those still recovering from the disaster.
Each church with the group organized local donation drives, gathered supplies, and packed up their vans for the journey to Texas. The group is delivering items such as wire cutters, protective arm sleeves, contact lens holders, and Vicks VapoRub to assist rescue crews in their ongoing search for missing individuals. Additionally, they will donate food to the San Antonio Food Bank to support those impacted by the floods.
Sarah Sanchez, a member of Shincheonji USA, said, “We want to be able to help and if we can lend that helping hand and serve in that way we want to be able to do that and so I would say that our faith led us to be here and want to be good Samaritans to those here in Texas.”
The group has already made stops in Center Point and Comfort to drop off donations and will head to San Antonio this afternoon to deliver food items to the San Antonio Food Bank.
