Amanda Anisimova will be hoping to move past her emphatic defeat in the Wimbledon final.

Anisimova was beaten by Iga Swiatek without winning a single game, as she cast an emotional figure in the immediate aftermath of the match.

Despite the disappointing end to her Wimbledon Championships, Anisimova received a lot of support from both active and former players.

The American has also been rewarded for reaching her first major final, with Anisimova now at a career-high ranking ahead of the North American hard court swing.

Wimbledon has continued a breakout season for Anisimova, who also won the Qatar Open earlier this year.

When speaking to Good Morning America in one of her first interviews since Wimbledon, Anisimova called the US Open her favourite tournament and suggested that she was hoping to make a deep run once again.

“It’s so surreal to be ranked seventh right now, it’s my career and what a quick turnaround for me after my comeback,” said Anisimova. “The US Open is my favourite tournament by far. It’s always super exciting to be playing there and I’m sure I will have the whole home crowd cheering for me over there.

“All my family is going to come and support me so I am just looking forward to it and I’m sure it’s going to be a great tournament and hopefully I can go far again.”

Anisimova has been spending some time with her family since the Wimbledon final, and actually shared an Instagram post of her on the beach surfing in New York.

When discussing her experience at Wimbledon as a whole, Anisimova explained how many positive things she was taking away from her time at SW19, despite the way that her tournament ended.

“It was such a remarkable experience for me,” said Anisimova. “Making it to the first Grand Slam final and it being at Wimbledon was a surreal feeling and even though it didn’t go the way I would have wanted it to go, my opponent obviously was playing some great tennis, and I have had to compete against so many incredible athletes throughout the entire fortnight, but I think just getting to be able to take the takeaways of my family being there and getting to experience that moment with me was incredibly special.

“And even getting to meet Kate Middleton after the final, at the ceremony, there were so many special moments and so many other things I can take away apart from the performance in itself.”

Amanda Anisimova’s record at the US Open

Despite calling it her favourite tournament, the US Open is by far Anisimova’s worst-performing Grand Slam.

Anisimova has only won three of her eight matches (38%) in her five previous appearances at the US Open, and has never surpassed the third round in New York.

However, last year in her resurgent comeback to the sport after taking a break, Anisimova was dealt a brutal first round draw against eventual quarterfinalist and Olympic champion Qinwen Zheng.

Anisimova is next scheduled to compete at the Washington Open, which begins next week on Monday, July 21.

Other tournaments on her schedule include WTA 1000 events in Montreal and Cincinnati, before heading to the US Open where she will likely be a top 10 seed for the first time.
