Phoenix police are set to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday for their new, roughly $137 million downtown headquarters.
The figure is the sum of 2021 city estimates to buy the Wells Fargo Plaza and reoutfit its building to a 500,000-square-foot space for police work. It replaces the more than 50-year-old Phoenix police headquarters, which is also downtown.
Officials say a major new feature is the tech-driven Real Time Intelligence Crime Center, where officers work with analysts.
Other amenities are quiet rooms and therapy dog access for dispatchers, plus a fitness center.
Officials say the new headquarters is also a tool for recruiting top talent.
